Totally Frenched Out

Argh, I am totally craving a cheeseburger right now. And not one from MacDo - I'm talking about a nice, thick, juicy cheeseburger straight off the grill. Let this be a warning to all of you Paris bloggers with BBQ's - I will be inviting myself over sometime in the near future, LOL.

The good thing is that the hotel owner is preparing us a special meal tonight, and I am drooling just thinking about it. Foie gras for starters (which I will likely skip - I'm not a fan), and then magret de canard with blackberry sauce (it's my favorite dish here), and then a warm piece of gâteau basque purchased especially for me for dessert. The gâteau basque they do here is absolutely orgasmic - I've never tasted anything like it. It's all smooth and almond-y and just melts in your mouth.

I can't believe there are still at least two hours until supper!!!

If you are still craving a cheeseburger when you get to Paris, I recommend either Breakfast in America (American style diner; there is one in the Marais and one on the Bd St Germain in the 5th) or else the Café Mabillon in the 6th.

Both have pretty good burgers, though I suppose the one at Breakfast in America is the most "American" one (and most likely much cheaper than Café Mabillon).

hehe you're making my mouth water too! we bbqed hamburgers a couple weeks ago at mystery guest's parent's house - they were delish! even topped them with bacon and cheddar cheese - YUM :-) I'm craving good corn on the cob though .. i heard Picard's is good, have you tried it? I'm always wary of frozen food although the things i've bought from them have always been good...
bon app!

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll keep them in mind.

And Karina, Picard's corn on the cob is SO good - their regular frozen corn is also delish!

Usually it is safe to come to your blog before I eat breakfast. But, not today. You've made me hungry.;-)

Is it possible to get hamburger buns in France?

Thanks Sam, great... Thanks a lot! I made a cheeseburger (sans bun) last night, but now I want another one tonight. But I would kill to have a grill... pan searing if killing me!

In three more weeks I will be grilling burgers on one of the finger lakes in New York with a nice pale ale in hand enjoying every minute of it. Oh I cannot wait!

Mmm. We've got a nice, big grill on our patio. We love grilling season!

Doesn't sound like the Parisian bloggers have grills. You are welcome to come to Zurich!

Oh Sam!!!! I JUST asked Alex tonight if there are any bbq grills in my fav. parc and he said, NO... I think they are hard to find in the parcs in France... Not like in So. Cali where almost all the parks have bbqs... I'm bummed!! But, if any of your Parisian blogger friends have a bbq chez eux, I have no shame in inviting myself and my hubby over to partake!! I am a damn good cook/baker and can be an asset to any organized event which includes food... *Note to self... bake brownies, c.c. cookies and the like for future bloggers picnics...
Anyhow... let me know if you find anyone... and I will offer my skills in exchange for an invite! ; )

You may not have a grill but you can still make a hamburger...make it a nice thick rectangle, add a slice of tomato, some lettuce, some spreadable cheese (I prefere chevre). Place it all in a nice fresh baquet traditional - forget the regular ones. I craved burgers all the time...this was my way of dealing with it. Pretty yummy.
