Totally Frenched Out

Well how about that? My little old blog made EasyJet's 2011 Ultimate Paris Travel Blogger List! I wouldn't have even known had someone not emailed me about it. Thanks Easyjet!

It reminds me of the time my previous blog was selected as one of the Best France Blogs...and I was described in the byline as a sassy gay (male) blogger. I found it pretty hilarious at the time - though I guess it was an easy assumption to make if you just skimmed my blog. I posted as Sam, was pacsed (back before the PACS was as popular as it is now) and I have to admit I was also fairly cantankerous.

Since moving to Paris though, I haven't really done much to publicize my writing. In many ways, this blog is still semi-private and for a long time I asked people not to link to it on their blogs. In part because in the beginning I didn't want Fab to find it, but also because what I was going through was so personal. So it's kind of an odd feeling to think that now random people are coming across what I write. But I guess I don't really have anything to "hide" anymore and maybe this is just the push I needed to take things more public and start building up my readership again. How about you guys? Do you actively promote your blog? Or does it just serve to chronicle your life for family and friends?

It's funny, I have never in my life been able to maintain a diary or a journal, but here I am going on six years of continuous blogging. Internets, you are a wonderful thing indeed!

The mention is well deserved. I like people who don't get bogged down in relating how delicious croissants are in Paris, or otherwise function as unofficial spokespeople for foreign tourist agencies.

Promoting myself has never seemed important. While it's nice to feel that people care enough about what you might say to read, I've never considered what I do (beyond fits of recognizable journalism) as a potential means of income or roadmap to fame. Plus I've been painfully lazy about wrapping up various adventures which can be embarrassing to share.

It's just lately that I've started to promote myself and my writing, but I initially started my blog as a way of keeping in touch (this was six years ago, long before Facebook became popular)! But I enjoy being active in the blogosphere and meeting people online! It's such a great community! Congrats!!!

Six years, wow! Congrats for sticking it out that long, and for transforming from a gay man, into an engaged woman, without any surgery at all!
Congratulations on your EasyJet distinction, very cool! :-)

I enjoy your blog, I've gotten to visit France a few times and have been studying French. I have a French friend who started out as a student exchange and now we exchange visits. There are really only a few blogs about living in France that the writers keep up so I read maybe 6 off and on.
So I hope you continue in Paris.

Congrats! I am shocked if ever anyone other than family and friends reads my blog, it's nice of course but pretty unexpected. It's as much a way to record things for myself as anything, actually, I occasionally go back into the archives if I want to remember a detail of my adventures so far, and it's always fun to reminisce :)

Congrats on that! Well done.
As to moving back to MN... I've thought about it and don't think I could live in a small town in the Midwest... The tater-tot hot dish would do me in LOL (That was cruel.. true, but cruel) A city, possibly... For me, the real killer would be giving up the travel - and Paris...
