Totally Frenched Out

I just realized that today marks the 3rd anniversary of my passing the French driving exam. Which means that after all of this time, I finally have all 12 of my points. 12, my new favorite number.

I thought this day would never come - no more having to worry about getting a ticket or being pulled over and having my 3 years start all over again. Though I have to admit I cheated a bit by never putting that damn A on my car. I drive so much for work that I just couldn't bring myself to do it.

I never put the A on my car either. My philosophy was, dammit, I've been driving for 12 years already; there is NO way I'm putting that thing on my back window! Hehe.

Sam, do you still have an American license for when you are in the USA?

Yep, I've still got my MN license - at least that's one (very tiny) good thing about not having been able to exchange!

I refused to put the scarlet letter on my car as well. I am 19 days away from the 3 year mark as well. And I can't wait. Although I think my husband is more excited then me, since he is down to his last few points....... lol.

Good for you! I would have done the same with that ridiculous A sticker.

I never put that on my car when I got my license. Maybe I didn't know I was supposed to. But then I had to give up my US license when I got my French one.

Isn't it awesome that we never have to pass another driving test again in our lives?

I don't put the A on either, and my speech I plan to give if I ever get pulled over is that I put on a magnetic version (which I really have in a drawer) and that it must have fallen off.

And @ Dedene, you could probably tell your DMV in the states you lost your license and they'd never know you had to hand it over to get your French license.

I"ll be in the same situation as I never got the French license (I am French but living in Paris, I never needed it). I do have the MA license but I kind of pretend not having the time for the "code" and the driving lessons...although it's partially true.
Anyway, no way I am putting the A on my car and no way I am giving back my MA license.
Congrats Sam !

I learned to drive in France and only had the A for a week. I hit another car during that week and another car hit me so my car was so damaged they had to change the boot. The A came off in the repair and never went back on... This was before the points thing came about for A's. I would like to think that I did not contribute to that! LOL!
