Can someone tell me why on Earth I thought I could manage three suitcases of varying sizes, a laptop bag and a large purse by myself? It must have been all that mac & cheese talking.
Getting back to chez moi from the airport was absolute hell, thanks to several non-working escalators and elevators. But to quote a few different people (who saw me struggling yet did not offer to help), "Bienvenue en France !"

Oh my !
That's one my biggest nightmares ! That's why I never travel with more than 10 kgs, laptop included ! I hate asking for help (unless there's a gentleman offering ;-)).
No matter how long I go, where to, Never more than 10. A few years ago, at CDG, I suffered with the lifts en panne with my 25kgs. Big lesson ;-)
I'm flying back to England tomorrow with three 70lb bags, a carry on camera/computer case and a backpack. I hate it, but it's less I have to ship later.
Glad you made it back in one piece with all your bags.
I've really been enjoying your blog this year...best wishes for a happy 2009.
Yay!! You made it back in one piece!!
:D
Fned.
courier it. reduces the chances of the airlines losing your checkins, and the bags will be awaiting you at your destination when you arrive. it's worth the money.
Too bad you didn't have a kid in tow. People always offer to help because of my mother status. Something that I didn't find in the US though. I'm glad you made it home with all your loot! Did you manage to squeeze in the ski clothes?
glad you made it back ok...any more trips planned for sometime soon? I'll be back on the 9th...i hope you are still in paris cuz i havent seen you in forever it seems!
P.S. my comment 'word verification' word for this post is ''fleces''..that's one letter off from ''feces'' lol..that may be funnier than it should be only because i've been drinking a bit tonight
Oh Sam!!
I'm SHOCKED that not ONE Parisian offered to help you!! My goodness!! You know that I would have, had I been there!!!! I cannot imagine that because when I stomped thru NY subways from the Bronx to JFK - two HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEE suitcases and my huge handbags... one man yelled at me (in a scolding way) for NOT asking him for help! Every single man- both young and old- were African American and not one WHITE person offered to help.
