René the mole go back to your hole

Taking a break from unpacking to share something that I just heard on the news. This has just become the number-one downloaded song in France:

René La Taupe - Mignon Mignon Version complète
envoyé par minette39. - Regardez des vidéos d'animaux drôles.

I just have to say....WHY? What is it that makes people like these dumb jingles? I can't be the only one whose ears bleed when I hear this kind of stuff.

And why do the French have such a love for 3D animals anyway? You see them everywhere - on talk shows, game shows, etc. I just don't get it - there's nothing more ridiculous than seeing an adult talking to an animated personnage as if it was really there, but yet it happens all the time.

OMG This is just horrible. PLUS when we were at a wedding the other week, THIS was the song the DJ chose as the "spontaneous dance" song. So they played the chorus about 30 times during the night and people were up dancing like the bloody video! But ummm have you listened to the lyrics?

THANK GOD we're not getting married in France. I'm not the type to like DJs anyway, but I can guarantee you now, had they played this just one time at my wedding I would be up there ready to kill the DJ and cutting the music.

Of course all the Frenchies there thought it was lots of fun.

(rant over from the uptight anglophone)
