I hate to say it, but I think the "courant d'air" gods have taken their revenge on me. The other day, I made a snide comment about how I was constantly going back and forth between hot temps and air-conditioned rooms, and haha, those French are so ridiculous, look at me! I've yet to fall deathly ill.
Until yesterday that is.
While driving the 4 hour drive back to my mother's house, my throat started feeling really parched, no matter how much water I drank. I took some cough syrup as a preventative measure and then went to bed. But then one of my client's mistakenly called me at 2am MN time, and as I went to answer the phone, I realized my throat was so hoarse, I couldn't speak. And it's done nothing but get worse all day - I feel like I've been hit by a truck. I'm exhausted & constantly cold, my bones are aching, my nose is all stuffy and my throat feels like I've swallowed knives. I took out some travel insurance at the last minute, so technically I *could* go to the doctor, but for now, I'm just trying to fight it out with Nyquil and my grandma's secret recipe of hot lemonade and honey.
But so I'm just throwing this out there as an apology to the Courant d'air gods. If I promise to never mock you again, will you make this all go away?
Pretty please, with sugar on top?

I'm currently fighting with Taiwanese people because they put A/C everywhere, pretexting outside's too hot. Outside's hot, true, and very humid, but it's not a reason to create a 20 degrees Celsius difference between the inside and the outside, for fuck sake!
Therefore, I totally understand your troubles. Good luck with all these. My throat starts feeling soare, and my stomache hurts (it's always been the first victim of the temperature changes)...
I hope that you get a lot of rest and relaxation and are able to bounce back from the curse the gods of the courant d'air put on you.
I can sympathize greatly because, historically, I have gotten ill every time I get on an international flight and then plunge head first into the social life at the other end of the trip!
I have only two words for you--Ny Quil!
Poorly Sam, you have had a hectic few months it's probably all catching up with you. Your grandma's secret recipes will see you right! I am poorly too, full of a cold - the English summer or rather winter has got to me! It's so bloody miserable here again with the weather, I can take no more. At least there is no need for any air con on!
Germs cause illness. Not changes in temperature.
Hope you feel better soon!
Hope it's not that flu they say we will all have very soon. Better see a doctor.
Take care you don't have swine flu, it's going around in a major way, even my parents had it (they are ok now).
I think you should really see a doctor since you took this extra insurance.
Each time I go to the US, I end up with a very bad sore throat and need antibiotics.
Better safe than sorry, so don't hesitate!
But come on, there has to be SOME kind of connection between the weather and getting sick. Why do all of my colds seem to coincide with being caught in the rain? Even if colds are caused by viruses wouldn't the weather/change in temperatures lower someone's resistance to them therefore playing a major part in why or why not someone catches cold?
I agree with Rochelle.
When you are cold, it's harder for your body to fight germs and viruses.
And staying away from the "courants d'air" is just good sense, Megan, whether you like it or not...
