There's not much going on around here these days - after a fun-filled weekend full of 4th of July celebrations and birthday picnics, I'm just laying low this week and giving my eyes time to rest (and my poor liver a break).
It's a bit boring, but I'm trying to appreciate the down-time before all the excitement coming up: fun weekend plans, hot dates, Bastille Day festivities and then there's always the joy of trying to figure out what to pack for a near-month long trip to the US while hungover.
Good times.
I am looking forward to my trip to the US though, and have been dreaming for some time about what all I'm going to eat. Being single has its downsides and one of them is not feeling inspired to cook for one. I've been feeling extremely bored with what I've been eating lately but yet it just seems like too much work to go about making elaborate dinners for just myself. And eating out here can be so expensive... So instead I dump some more pasta into the boiling water and then dream about the wonderful meals I will be eating in just a few short days. Which leaves me wondering how I always manage to lose weight in the US...

and YAY for bastille-y celebrations! oooh la belle bleue!
Ahahah Katia, I got EXACTLY the same question for ksam! We should sign-up to the Gossip-club...
It's a pain to cook for oneself, I've been a student for 5 years so I know that... in Taiwan, though, you just have to go outside and walk for a minute, and ~tada~! you can buy amazingly good stuff for a euro or two. Yum yum!
I know how you lose weight, it's just like us when we come to Zurich, we run our a's off.
well it must be a hot date because I didn't have anything to do with it this time :p
That's funny! I usually have more luck dropping a few pounds in France. I think I walk lots more there than I do here.
that's why you pack your bag *before* you start the drinking :)
I lose weight in the US too. My eating habits there are better than the habits I've developed here (pain au chocolat for breakfast, steak frites for lunch...). When I lived with a family in France I lost weight though.
Am I the only one who gains weight in the US? I go back and my mom makes me all kinds of cookies and brownies and cakes and I feel like I have to eat them because you know, my mom made them special for me and I don't want the Jewish mother guilt trip for not eating her food :)
But definitely want to hear more about these dates!
Hot dates? You know, they're better at room temperature. But watch out for the pits. And try figs once in a while.
word verif: budism. Is that like worshiping your best friend?
