Am I the only one who doesn't find this very reassuring?

As in, why do they need to have a sign stating this in the first place?

I used to work as a librarian at public libraries. Because of the way the concealed gun laws are written, you must post this type of sign prominently on the door so that idiots who do not realize they shouldn't bring their concealed guns inside cannot say, "But no one told me I couldn't..."

When I worked in states in which carrying concealed guns was allowed, we had to post these signs on our doors as well.

It is rather startling, isn't it?

This must have been taken in one of the Dakotas. Minnesota, unless it has recently changed, does not allow the carrying of concealed weapons.

Although I have heard some places near the border post the signs anyway, just because of the cross-border traffic.

Well, if you were in Tennessee, you can carry concealed weapons into a bar!

The Waffle House has them posted prominently over their grills behind the cash registers all over the southeastern USA, along with a very long list of "rules" for behavior in the restaurant. Frequent trips to TWH could constitute a course in social etiquette as rigorous as any charm school;>).

How you feelin'?

Didn't Pawlenty pass a concealed weapons law a few years ago? I seem to remember these showing up all at once.

This is just a basic reminder that you're in the United States where proud Americans have the right to bear arms. Of course, that translates to the highest rate of desaths by firearms in the world, but what the heck?

Eileen - you're right. I was at school in Minneapolis when the law changed, so I got the pleasure of seeing these signs all over the place. I especially loved the ones ouside of churches.

Thanks America - your gun laws are SO smart.
