Today marks my first ever Valentine's Day spent single since I started dating.

I'm not really sure how I feel about that.

Valentine's is a lot like New Year's eve....too much hype, not enough substance. Don't let it get to you.

Happy Valentine's Day as a single woman!!!!! Next year, I'm sure you will know many guys and they'll be bringing you all sorts of Valentine's treats!! Can I help get the word out?!! hehehe... Just kidding!! I always tell my students that Valentine's Day is NOT just for LOVERS, but it's also a day to celebrate good friendships and family... I used to give my friends Valentine's treats (cookies, candy, cards, flowers, etc) - and enjoyed doing it! It made me happy just to honor this day of feelings and sentiments!!

I'm with Anne. Valentine's is totally hyped up by card/ chocolate/ gift etc companies to boost their coffers. Enjoy the day and forget about Valentine's!

Valentine's Day is just a marketing thing!! Don't worry!

I am always single for VD, except the 3 years I have been dating someone in University, and I really don't care ;)

Happy "just Saturday, 14 Feb" :)

V-Day is overhyped. I am always single on Valentine's Day (sometimes by design, lol).

Don't even worry about it...V day is so over rated. If you really need one day to celebrate your love with someone you're an idiot...it should be celebrated every day! Go out, get some drinks, have some fun! Be happy you didn't have to spend any time thinking about some useless gift to give your significant other. J and I aren't exchanging gifts or doing any sort of romantic dinner...it's just a day like any other!

There's no difference between February 14th and any other day in the year. You can be single any day of the year, and you can be romantic any day of the year. It doesn't change the fact that you are fabulous, and the guys who don't see that are schmucks.

Said by someone celebrating her 24th consecutive singles awareness day! Looking forward to the record of 25 straight next year...

This is my sixth Valentine's Day with my husband and we have NEVER recognized the day in any way---it just doesn't interest either of us at all. Just goes to show that married or single (or anything in between), the day really has zero importance.

In any case, cheers to you from sunny Florida!

I didn't have anyone to celebrate Valentine's Day with until I was 31 years old. Be grateful for the many years you were able to show someone you loved them and be loved in return. You will have the opportunity to do so again; this year, do something nice for yourself instead.

Feel fortunate. I spent all but THREE Valentine's Days of my entire dating lifetime as a single girl. The past two of those with Georges which have been great, and the other one going back to my last serious relationship BEFORE Georges, 12 years ago, and that Valentine's Day mostly just pissed me off because my boyfriend was a real ass about it.

To to say this is your first EVER single Valentine's day is actually something to be proud of.

The highlight of my St. Valentine was watching bad television.

Seriously. I didn't know you could circus train goats.

i thought you'd find this inspiring and amusing -- this girl just parted from her man of many years and put on an art show called Love Is Awesome which opened on VD. enjoy.
