Totally Frenched Out

I had all these big plans when I moved to Paris, thinking I would explore a different quartier each week. Instead, I have basically just made my life in the 5th, going anywhere within walking distance of my apartment. So Saturday, when Yuri was in town after coming back from a fabulous trip to India, I asked if she wanted to go walk around near Opéra. It's an area I go to at least once a week, but that I've never explored - I basically just do an aller-retour between the movie theater & the metro stop.

So we took advantage of the sun and just mosied around. And I was once again reminded of why I love Paris. You can be walking along, and then you turn a corner and you have a view like this: I was like "Whoa, what the heck is Sacré Coeur doing there??" And thus my commitment to continue (ie. start) exploring Paris was renewed.....but maybe when the weather is a bit nicer.

Interesting you took the exact picture I took. Did you notice that the church is now a bank (BNP Paribas)?

Wait. Who is Yuri, and why was she in India?

More importantly, I would like to meet this friend of yours and see how she found L'Inde :-).

exploring Paris would scare the shit out of me..too many French people and germs and cars lol.

Still, feel free to venture out of the city a bit to come explore my 'hood (because let's not forget I don't live in Paris). Pretzels at La Défense it is!

Hey Ksam! Thanks for the link.
Haven't read all your posts but your blog seems really nice! ;)

And great picture! You know, as a Parisian girl, I'm also discovering Paris each time I go there for a special purpose or just hang around. I love the Opera neighborhood along with Haussmann and that's only when some Italian friends came to visit last October that I discovered you can visit the Opera! It's amazing, you should go! ;)
