Ladurée bar
Yesterday while walking to the Palais de l'Elysée to see if we could manage to spot Crystal's husband on duty, we came across these huge réligieuses in the window of a fancy bakery:And then it was off to the new Ladurée bar, which is located just next to the regular Ladurée store on the Champs-Elysée.
While I really liked the décor, I was not a fan of the service. The serveuse was first overly-pushy and in our faces, and then when we'd finally decided what to order, she completely ignored us. It took ages for Kendra & Crystal to get their (too weak) tea, and she messed up our order of macarons, giving us a vanilla one instead of coconut. (The others are black current & violet, dark chocolate and salted butter caramel). And then they overcharged Crystal for her tea, not looking the least bit sorry about it either.
The chairs, while esthetically cool, were too close together and hard to get out of - plus the shape of the bar made it hard to talk in a group. It curved in and out, meaning you always had your back to someone and couldn't really talk to more than one person at a time. Overall verdict - I'm glad I went once to check it out, but the extremely high prices (12€ for a kir) and the bad service will definitely not make that place a regular on my list of bars to hang out at.

As soon as I read that there was a Laduree bar I was green with envy that you all could go and all I have is a wine bar across the street that is devoid of macarons. IT sounds like the height of luxury. A kir and a macaron. Heaven does exist and its names is Laduree!!
Even your report of the bad service does not put me off. I sooooo want to go!!!
Twelve euros for a kir is making me feel even more ill than I was last week!!
I've heard so much of Ladurée, I'd love to try, just this once. I live in the Mediterranean, that doesn't help ;-)
Despite the bad service, it kinda makes me want to go too-just to say been there, done that. Plus, I've never had a macaron before!
ksam - i agree with your report. our group was WAY too large for the bar - and emily was overcharged for her tea too. as was i for my coupe de champagne. and yes, the service was atrocious.
leah - GIRL! get over here! we will get you a macaron!! or two. or three.
gosh I missed out on all this fun stuff!! Darn honeymoon.....
ou la what i would do for a violet kir...yum
twelve euros?? there's at least one good thing you can still say about bretagne - a 2 euro kir is just perfect :)
too bad it wasn't as great as you'd hoped, but maybe this way it'll save your pocketbook a bit of pain teehee
I was there just about a week ago when they seemed to be putting finishing touches on that bar - the decor definitely caught my attention...too bad it was a disappointment...
yup I agree with ya...I should have just thrown some orange rinds in hot water at home...would have saved myself 3,50 lol. I had a lot of fun with you and Kendra that day though and Max was flattered we went looking for him!
I was not bowled over by the service but I wasn't expecting much either. Mostly I was mesmerized by the secret doors. Ooooh.
Glad to have tried it with ya'll!
