Totally Frenched Out

A website I first heard about several months back is finally up and running! It's called My American Market and is targeted towards American (duh) expats living in France. It's run by a French woman named Anne-Claire who spent several years in the US and is now back in France.

I spent some time looking around the website and the prices are pretty reasonable for most things. I mean, who wouldn't pay 2.59€ for a box of Mac & Cheese? Or 1.69€ for Reese's PB cups or Reese's Pieces. The only thing that I'd really love to see is more Mexican stuff - like canned Black beans or taco seasoning - take note Anne-Claire! ;)

Plus if you blog about it, you will be entered in a drawing to win a 40 € gift basket - click here for more information.

And they say the French are not entrepreneurial! It will be interesting to see what kind of feedback and purchase order Anne-Claire gets.

Does she need anything from Texas?

Holy smokes, those prices are highway robbery.

I live in the east armpit of France and even I can get about half that stuff for cheaper in town.

*gulp*

well frankly, if I wanted that stuff I probably would have remained there ... as far as Mexican flavors go, spices are easily found and it is always better to cook your own ... same as I did in the states.

now if she starts selling Maseca, I'd order that I suppose. depending on those prices.

Whoa! It's for *rich* American expats, non? I went back to the US last month and came back with 3 pounds of grits, 2 pounds of dried pinto beans, 6 boxes of mac and cheese, Hot Tamales, and loads of chewing gum. I would have brought more back if I could have crammed it into my suitcases without damaging it! lol

I went to LIDL last week and lucked out finding American style mustard, marshmallows and peanut butter. The prices were very reasonable so I stocked up since I don't know when they'll have these in the store again.

The "American" part of the website sort of gets my goat.
