I have an excellent job, a CDI, but it is not in a high demand sector (consulting) and I do not earn enough to get an EU Blue Card. Time flies. <br /><br />During my compulsory civic duty classes, they told us that a partner does not have the right to blackmail someone into staying with them in a couple in exchange for papers (i.e threatening to leave them so they wouldn't have any papers and have to go home). <br />That kind of situation is abusive, so I don't know if it covers just a regular break up. I'm guessing it depends how long they've been in the country. If they are already working, it might be ok.
