A very merry birthday to me
Once again, I have to say that I am so grateful for the friends I've made here in Paris. Yesterday, I went to the very beautiful Parc de Sceaux with Leesa & Co, and after lunch, Leesa pulled a birthday cake out of her purse! I was really touched that she remembered my birthday was this week, especially since I've never been able to celebrate my birthday in France. Fab is terrible with dates and always forgot (so did his fam), and none of my friends were ever around in the summer. So it was always just another day of same old, same old - no presents, no cake, no nothing. But not this year thanks to all of my blogging friends!
Here are the two birthday girls, and the cake, with candles and everything! :
And a couple photos of the park:

Happy Birthday!!! I was going to send you an email to wish you happy birthday in advance (tomorrow's going to be very busy so I was worried I'd forget).
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you'll for once be able to celebrate in style! Wish I were there to help ;-)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SAM!!! You can look forward to a really interesting and fun year this year! Not stuck out in a gite in the middle of a muddy field.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Sam!! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy, Happy Birthday Sam!!! Have a great one!
ReplyDeletehappy happy happy happy happy happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteHi Sam,
ReplyDeleteI'm very happy for you that you had this birthday.
Happy Birthday !
I'm very glad to have made your acquaintance yesterday.
I sent you an e-mail with pics for you.
Happy birthday Sam!!
ReplyDeleteSorry, but it sounds like to me that your ex and his family were very inconsiderate selfish people!!
Happy Birthday! I hope the next year is a memorable one for you (in a good way).
ReplyDeleteFab used to forget your birthday? That's pretty incredible...
Hauskaa syntymäpäivää!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Sam!!!! I am so glad you had a cake - everyone should have a cake on their birthday! Maybe the French do not celebrate as much as Americans for birthdays? I always feel like I "go over the top" for birthdays. One time my sister-in-law was here for her birthday and I made a cake for her - she seemed uncomfortable. My husband said, "I am sorry, she didn't seem too excited, but in France we do not celebrate birthdays very much". I am not sure if it is just his family or like that in France. I love when it is someone's birthday and really try to make them feel special on their day - why not!!??
ReplyDelete*keeps her mouth shut and her fingers crossed till tomorrow*
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Sam!! I wish you nothing but happiness in this next year. :)
ReplyDeleteJoyeux Anniversaire! C'est chouette de te voir si heureuse!

ReplyDeleteAnd she pulled that out of her purse?
Happy birthday!!!
ReplyDeleteHey Sam....
ReplyDeleteIt was a lot of fun!! I hope you have a really nice b-day this year- Full of new surprises and new horizons!! Happy B-day!!!!! Joyeux Anniversaire!!!
Starman- it was my big sac... and I had a special plastic cover over the cake so it wouldn't get smooshed or get icing everywhere.. However... when I took it out of the bag... it was upside down... OOOPS!!! : )
Happy birthday! Luckily the weather's been so nice that you can really take advantage of your summer birthday.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Sam. It sounds like Leesa really took care of you! I hope you had an incredibly wonderful day... and it looks like I am on whole day older than you.
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY
what yuri said.
ReplyDelete*sneaky grin*
Happy Birthday, Sam! And way to go Leesa with the cake in the bag trick. I need to get a pan that I can put in my handbag for those moments when you need to pull a cake out of your bag.
ReplyDeleteHope to see you guys again soon!
Happy birthday, I love your blog, very inspiring and uplifting!
ReplyDeleteA very happy birthday to you, so glad that you are smiling again.
ReplyDeleteHappy, Happy Birthday To You!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a coincidence! I was at the chateau de Sceaux on Sunday for a picnic with some friends. It's true that it's quite a lovely place.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a great wonderful birthday and here's to many many more.
Fned.
Happy happy birthday!!!! Finally, you get to celebrate your birthday in France!
ReplyDelete(I know what you mean about not celebrating, my 30th was last year and I thought for once, we'd actually do something but nope, nothing nada, no presents, no cake, nothing, like all the other years, so good for you for finally celebrating à l'Americaine because the French just don't know how to do birthdays)
Happy belated birthday! I'm glad you had a wonderful time. It really shows who your real friends are! Glad you were able to enjoy it!!! :)
ReplyDeletehappy birthday, samantha.
